Founding Directors
The Global Indigenous Monarchical Alliance (GIMA) was established on 25 May 2026 following international consultations among Sovereign Heads, representatives of indigenous Monarchies, H.E. Dame Nina Saleh Ahmed, Duchess of Neuquén, and Werken Reynaldo Mariqueo, Duke of Meli-Peuko, who shared a common conviction that there exists an urgent need for Indigenous Monarchies to unite in cooperation and solidarity through a single international organisation.
The Alliance was founded to strengthen, defend, and promote the rights, status, and cultural heritage of Indigenous Monarchies throughout the world. Its establishment reflects a collective response to the enduring consequences of colonisation and its legacy, which profoundly affected Indigenous nations by undermining their sovereignty, dispossessing them of their territories, and disrupting their political, cultural, spiritual, and economic institutions.
The founders recognise that these historical injustices were often facilitated by colonial and Papal doctrines and imperial expansion, the effects of which continue to be felt by Indigenous peoples today.
H.E. Dame Nina Saleh Ahmed
Duchess of Neuquen
H.E. Dame Nina Saleh Ahmed - Duchess of Neuquen - Director of the Global Indigenous Monarchical Alliance has devoted more than twenty-five years to the advancement of Indigenous rights through her work with the United Nations and international organisations, including the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization. Her work has focused particularly on the rights of the Mapuche people of Wallmapu (Mapuche ancestral territory) currently illegally occupied by the states of Chile and Argentina.
The Duchess of Neuquen began working as an official of the Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia in Exile in 2007. Working under four Sovereigns to the present. Appointed as the first female member of the Council of the Kingdom in 2016 under the reign of Prince Antoine IV. In 2023 she was appointed as President of the High Court of Justice by Prince Frederic I and in 2025 appointed as Chancellor - Garde des Sceaux of the Kingdom under the reign of the present day ninth Sovereign of the Kingdom H.R.H. Prince Antoine V.
H.E. Werken Reynaldo Mariqueo Duke of Meli-Peuko
H.E. Werken Reynaldo Mariqueo - Duke of Meli-Peuko - Director of the Global Indigenous Monarchical Alliance has for more than forty years, defended and promoted the rights of the Indigenous Mapuche Nation and Indigenous peoples globally through his engagement with the United Nations, the UNPO, and other international forums.
The Duke of Meli-Peuko has served the Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia since 1985 under four successive reigns to the present in several senior capacities. Under the reign of Prince Philippe I he was appointed as Chargé d'Affaires of the Kingdom and Councillor of the Kingdom, In 2023 he was appointed as Vice-President of the Council of State by Prince Frederic I. In 2025 he was appointed by H.R.H. Prince Antoine V as Secretary of State for Diplomatic Affairs.
